Voter Incentive

Post  Lord Gurgi on Sat Nov 15, 2008 6:33 pm

Currently there is no incentive to vote on any proposals. Should we not have something to encourage activity? I don't even vote any longer, only suggest changes.

I do not know. I was going to eventually suggest the introduction of Golden and Bronze coins but never came up with an amount.

If we gave say 10 per vote, we could easily use the common 100->1 conversion.

On this note, I would like to suggest removing "Points" as a term.

1 bronze = 10 silver = 5 gold pieces. Sound good? Then take it!

Shouldn't silver be worth more than bronze?

Are you suggesting I propose the above?

Thank you. I would support a proposal giving you a silver coin.

This would mean a lot of overhead for skitzer. I'm not sure if skitzer would like this at all.

I don't think we need an incentive. Sure, voter apathy sucks, but everyone has the chance and generally people benefit/lose based on a proposal's outcome. The problem isn't as bad as people are making it out to be.

I think that's way too much. If 10 people vote, each gets 10 bronze, aka 1 silver. 10 propositions, we all get 2 gold.

Okay, maybe that isn't too much.... but still...

Mybe some kind of "non-optional democracy" ? Each player must post a vote or pay a fine. Probaly only 1 silver paid into the city vault.
I think one of those crazy countries does this, like finnland or sweden.

I like that.

And we can have bankruptcy, thus kicking out inactive players.

We might need to have V/LA though.

No. That is just stupid and not in the spirit of the game.

At this point, I am strongly against mandatory voting or voting incentives. If people don't have strong feelings one way or another about a proposal, by all means let them abstain from voting.

What she said.

All hail Senator Mokina!

Altough it's quite stupid to make a game to vote, and people don't vote.

meh, I don't think there needs to an incentive to vote. That is like rewarding someone for doing a job they are expected to do in the first place. That is why I took the alternate route of the "non-voting tax".

If we were to do the non-voting tax idea (which I like, personally), we would have to PM everyone that doesn't or rarely post.

EDIT: 100th post Very Happy

No we wouldn't. If they don't notice the penalties, they really aren't paying attention.
